Kurt Cobain would tell you to use your own voice to create your own sound. Everybody is great if they reach their potential. Yes you can be influenced but everyone’s voice is different. You’ll never reach your true potential by trying to sound exactly like someone else it’s a losing battle unless you’re not trying to be unique.

You need epiglottis distortion on top of false cords. Hard, but doable

I definitely prefer the quick shortcuts. Like one video I watched about opening the false chords instantly changed my voice. Also tips like pelvic floor support and tension and simple posture things. I don’t plan on learning keys and actual notes. More interested in just going by intuition while learning techniques like fry, scream, twang etc

But thats vocal fry and not raspy singing. Thats 2 different things, as far as i know. And im pretty sure you can learn to sing raspy even more powerful, without damaging your voice. Another vocal coach said you gonna do something with the start of the tongh, push it up, and train those "shouting" sounds you labeled as bad to do at the start. Still didnt figure out how to do it correctly but i believe its a weird mixture of having that tension at the start of the tongh while as well letting lose at the same time. And yes you really look like Mark Hamill. :D That guy below in the comments almost made me think you are Mark Hamill.

The REAL reason is AGE. Nobody could sing as good as when he/she were 20 years old after 40 years. Some cant even f**k as if they were 20 years old either. Not even Jagger can do it....he sounds like and old lady screaming.

I think Jamie Vendera seems to be good. I like his ideas on support and placement. I like that he isn't on UA-cam for the sake of amassing a huge number of followers by doing gimmicky things of questionable value. There are some "coaches" with way, way more subscribers than he has who should no more be teaching people to sing than I should be playing Major League Baseball.

Awesome advice about allowing a little bit of breath (like a happy surprise) out to start the vocal cords. It works!! That "lift something heavy" by itself without something to relieve pressure on the throat, never, ever, ever seemed healthy to me.
